What I Wish You Knew Before Your First Facial

If you’ve ever booked a facial and thought, “I’m excited… but also nervous,” you’re not alone. I see it all the time. People walk in unsure of what to expect, worried they’ll break out, or feeling like they need to apologize for their skin.
So let me just clear a few things up: these are the things I truly wish you knew before your first facial with me.

⸻
1. You Do Not Need “Good Skin” to Come See Me
So many people tell me, “I almost canceled because my skin is so bad right now.”
That’s why you come in! Acne, dryness, sensitivity, congestion, texture, aging - this is real skin, and it’s what I work with every day. You never have to “fix it first.” We start exactly where you are.
No judgment, ever.
⸻
2. Extractions Aren’t Supposed to Be Traumatizing
Let’s talk about the part everyone fears: extractions.
Extractions should feel like pressure, not torture. I prep the skin properly, I don’t force anything that isn’t ready, and I always keep your skin’s long-term health in mind. I care way more about how your skin looks in two weeks than what I can squeeze out in ten minutes.
⸻
3. One Facial Is Amazing… But It’s Not a Magic Wand
We need a steady routine to see results!
Facials work best in a routine, just like going to the gym, or watering your plants.
Consistency creates real change. One facial can create glowy, radiant, calm skin and clean things out - sure. But your best skin happens over time, not overnight.
⸻
4. Your At-Home Routine Matters More Than You Think
Your facial is the reset.
Your home care is the maintenance.
You don’t need 12 steps. You need the right products for your skin. I will always be honest about what’s helping you and what’s quietly working against you, even if it’s something you’ve used forever.
That honesty is how we actually get results!
⸻
5. Not Every Post-Facial Breakout Means Something Went “Wrong”
Skin can purge, hormones shift, stress shows up on your face. Sometimes timing is working against us.
What matters is how long it lasts, where it shows up, and what your skin does over the next few weeks. This is why I always tell my girls- talk to me. We adjust, we problem-solve, and we figure it out together.
⸻
6. You Never Have to Feel Awkward Asking Questions
If you’re wondering:
• Why something tingles
• What a product actually does
• How often you should be coming in
• Why your skin keeps doing the same annoying thing
Ask me! I love when you want to understand your skin. My goal is not just to treat you, it’s to help you feel confident caring for your skin between appointments, too.
⸻
The Truth Is…
Your skin is not broken. It’s responding to stress, hormones, life, products, sleep, food, and everything in between.
My job isn’t just to make your skin look good for the day, it’s to help you understand it, support it, and feel good in it long-term.
And if you’re nervous about your first facial, here’s the only thing you really need to know:
You don’t have to come in knowing everything. That’s what I’m here for.

When you’re ready, there’s a heated bed, calm music, and a quiet hour treating your skin waiting for you.
Sincerely,
Jordan
