Tis the Season for Dry Ends…? Not This Year!

Winter is cozy, but your hair might disagree.

Dry ends, dullness, static, and breakage show up way more often as the weather gets colder. Let’s talk about why this happens—and what you can do about it.

Why Does This Happen?

Cold air outside + heated air inside = major moisture loss.

Your hair is made up of about 97% moisture and 3% keratin. Anytime your hair goes through change—chemical or environmental—the very first thing it loses is moisture.

The Fix

• Use a hydrating shampoo and a moisture mask every 2–3 washes.

• Add a hair oil into your styling routine (only on the ends!). Oil helps seal in moisture and reduces static.

• Consider routine scalp treatments to replenish moisture at the root and keep both new and current hair healthy.

• Limit hot tools—or, if you have to have your blowout, use a high-quality heat protectant.

Pro tip: Most heat protectants only shield up to about 400°F, and hair begins to fuse at that temperature. Go light on the heat!
